Manufacturing Engineer 

Position Summary

We are currently seeking an independent, self-starter to drive process improvements, product testing, shop floor trouble shooting, data collection and analysis. In this role, you will draw on your Manufacturing Engineering background to support our high precision Laser-Driven Light Source products. Our precision instruments are used in technical and research applications throughout the world. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work in a technical environment and be excited about new technologies. The Manufacturing Engineer will be a key member of the Manufacturing team and work closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning and Engineering. This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop tooling, test equipment, assembly and test fixtures for use in the production and testing of our Laser-Driven Light Source products.
  • Develop custom Labview, Matlab, MS Access, Excel and/or other programs to improve product testing and automate both test and shop floor tasks.
  • Maintain & Perform Calibration on existing off the shelf and custom test equipment. Interact with outside suppliers where calibration capability does not exist in-house.
  • Manage development, sourcing, prototyping, and implementation of fixtures.
  • Represent Manufacturing throughout the NPI process. Transfer products from design to full production.
  • Participate in Engineering Change Control process and lead the implementation of changes through Manufacturing at Energetiq or at our suppliers.
  • Perform analysis and collection of data related to product performance and capabilities. Present data in a clear technical manner.
  • Develop Manufacturing assembly processes and supporting work instructions
  • Serve as Technical point of contact for issues within Manufacturing.
  • Expand use of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, SPC and Continuous Improvement within manufacturing

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 3 or more years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience designing test fixtures and establishing product testing protocols.
  • Capable of using test instrumentation including oscilloscopes, multi meters, spectrometers and power meters.
  • Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of product qualification, verification testing and gauge R&R
  • Familiarity with machining, sheet metal fabrication, circuit board assembly, and general assembly practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, organization and project management skills combined with an attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable presenting ideas to individuals throughout the organization.
  • Proficient in the use of LabVIEW and related development software
  • Solidworks experience.
  • MS Excel/Access VBA, or other programming experience.
  • Mini-tab or other statistical modeling experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to travel 10-15%.

Preferred Requirements

  • Prior experience working with laser and/or optical products highly desirable.
  • A passion for learning new skills and the desire to develop as an Engineer.
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative environment with a diverse group of people who value and respect each other’s ideas.
